The Jolly Christmas Postman
On Christmas Eve, the postman delivers cards and small paper surprises to nursery-rhyme and fairy-tale households. The envelopes make the reader an active recipient as well as an observer.

Identify each addressee
Use the house, name and enclosed item to infer who receives each delivery. Familiarity with Baby Bear, Red Riding Hood and Humpty Dumpty adds jokes, but the clues also support newcomers.
Read the inserts as documents
Treat the card, game and jigsaw as texts made for different recipients. Ask who sent each piece, what it expects the recipient to do and how its design changes the tone.
Manage the paper pieces
Open one envelope at a time, return its contents before moving on and count the six deliveries. This preserves the narrative order and helps prevent a fragile used copy from becoming incomplete.
Compare before choosing: Both turn a Christmas book into an activity, but the postman uses removable fictional documents while I Spy asks readers to search fixed photographic scenes. View the comparison title →
