Name the trigger on every spread
Ask what the pig sees, feels or remembers that prompts the next request. Children can distinguish a physical need, such as cleaning up, from an association that redirects the story.
Track work behind the fun
The child host supplies materials and follows the pig’s changes of plan. Count what must be fetched or cleaned and discuss how hospitality can be generous while still requiring limits.
Predict the return
Once the pattern is clear, invite a guess about which earlier object will close the circle. Then retell the route from pancake back to pancake without the pictures.
Compare before choosing: The matching circular structures invite close comparison of triggers, with the pig’s grooming and dress-up associations taking a different route from the moose’s performance. View the comparison title →
