A Potty for Me!

A first-person child alternates play, meals, sleep, accidents and repeated sits before reaching success. Lift-up flaps make the attempts and outcome something the reader reveals rather than a lecture delivered from outside.
A Potty for Me! by Karen Katz is estimated to take about 4 minutes to read aloud (120 words, 1 sentence a spread). Best for ages 2-3.

Our review
The narrator is not ready simply because a new potty appears. Play, an accident and several returns show readiness as a process, while the mother's response to wet pants keeps one failure from becoming the story's verdict. The final refrain belongs to the child, preserving agency at the point of success.
Potty condenses deliberation into a few labels and is easier to use in a very short sitting. A Potty for Me! adds physical flaps, repeated attempts and explicit recovery from an accident. The interactive format earns its extra length, although those moving parts are also the edition's practical weakness.
Before you buy it
Because the paper flaps are fragile, they won't last long if the book is kept in a bathroom near the floor.
