Our review

A walk down the road produces one donkey and a description that lengthens with every page. The task is auditory memory: each new rhyming adjective must be attached to the existing chain and delivered in order. Pictures may cue the latest term, but the payoff is saying the complete phrase without losing its rhythm.

Doggies offers a shorter sound-performance alternative in which numbered dogs contribute distinct barks. Wonky Donkey is harder because its cumulative sentence keeps all earlier language active. Its limitation is not only noise level: some comic labels are built around the donkey’s body and impairments, so the humor deserves an adult preview rather than automatic imitation.

Before you buy it

Several descriptors turn disability and bodily difference into part of the rhyme joke. Adults should preview the wording and decide whether that humor fits their reader.
