Our review

Baby Bear's goodbye becomes manageable because it is divided into concrete stops rather than handled as one abstract loss. Papa Bear accompanies the ritual without rushing it, allowing ordinary rooms and objects to receive attention before departure.

A Kiss Goodbye follows Chester Raccoon from resistance through saying goodbye and noticing something promising about the new home. Goodbye House is narrower and quieter: it is strongest for the final walk-through itself. Families still need another conversation about where the child is going and what continuity will remain.

Before you buy it

The book concentrates on closure at the old home and says little about arrival. A Kiss Goodbye includes both farewell and the first possibility of a new place.
