Triangle

Triangle’s prank sends him through Square’s house and back to a doorway Square cannot enter. The geometric settings determine who controls each encounter, so shape is part of the trick rather than a detached concept lesson.
Triangle by Mac Barnett is estimated to take about 4.5 minutes to read aloud (314 words, 1 sentence a spread). Best for ages 3-6.

Our review
Triangle travels to Square’s house specifically to frighten him, then runs home when Square gives chase. The route matters: Square’s home has a square door, while Triangle’s triangular doorway stops Square outside. That physical mismatch turns the setting into the final move of the prank and leaves open whether Square’s last action was planned.
Stuck is the useful alternative when the appeal is an absurd problem that grows through bad solutions. Triangle is quieter and more ambiguous; it asks readers to judge two tricksters and a final event that the text does not settle. It can support shape language, but the stronger task is using position, doorway and character knowledge as evidence.
Before you buy it
The ending leaves Square’s intent unresolved and neither character repairs the exchange. Readers wanting a clearly cooperative friendship story should choose another title.
