Our review
Timmy runs what he considers a world-class detective agency with Total, an exceptionally lazy polar bear. His grand plans include wealth enough to ease his mother’s financial stress, but his inflated confidence collides with rivals, school demands, and the practical weakness of his operation.
The comedy asks readers to notice what Timmy does not: his certainty is much stronger than his detective judgment. That makes this a rewarding bridge from straightforward mysteries to stories where interpreting the narrator is part of solving what is happening. Nate the Great models dependable clue work; Timmy Failure is funnier when the reader wants to detect errors in the detective’s own account.
Before you buy it
Some jokes depend on recognizing the narrator’s mistaken conclusions rather than accepting his version of events.
