Across three stories, Narwhal adopts a superhero identity and asks Jelly to help determine his power, uses that power to guide a friend home, and supports Jelly through a low mood. The superhero play therefore moves from invention to practical kindness.
This sequel is useful for children who enjoy costumes and powers but respond best when heroism means helping someone. The separate episodes also let each emotional problem reach a clear resolution without requiring one long conflict. Narwhal: Unicorn of the Sea establishes the personalities; Super Narwhal is the more purposeful choice for connecting pretend powers with helping.
Before you buy it
Readers expecting a conventional villain battle may find the conflicts intentionally small and relationship-centered.
