Our review

Sheila Rae normally considers herself brave and looks after her sister Louise. When Sheila Rae becomes lost and frightened, Louise is the one who comes to her rescue, reversing the sisters’ established roles.

The reversal gives the story more value than a simple reassurance about courage. It shows that confidence can fail, a younger or quieter sibling can become capable when needed, and accepting help does not erase earlier bravery. Henry and Mudge answers loneliness through pet companionship; Sheila Rae tests a sibling relationship by reversing who is brave and who rescues.
