Our review

Ruby’s Worry appears as a separate yellow presence that follows her and grows while she keeps it private. Its size lets a reader track anxiety without requiring Ruby to name a cause. The turning point is reciprocal: she recognizes a Worry beside another child, speaks, and discovers that the experience is not hers alone.

Jabari Jumps locates fear in one specific action and shows preparation, pause and a supportive father before the dive. Ruby is the better choice for a worry whose subject may be unclear or private. Bloomsbury presents it as a springboard for discussion; the tidy shrinking image should not be treated as a promise that one conversation ends persistent anxiety.

Before you buy it

Talking reduces the Worry in this story, but disclosure does not instantly resolve every anxiety. The book is a conversation opener, not a substitute for sustained support when worry disrupts daily life.
